Can I go now?

No, I decided I was finished. - Kanye West, School Spirit

Thanks for the intro Kanye.

So, yesterday marked the successful completion of my studies at uni. Unlike the College Dropout, I managed to finish my degree and can now proudly say I have a Bachelor of Science. Uni has been great, lots of hard intense times and periods where I could have got by with my eyes closed. The graduation ceremony, however, was probably one of the most boring parts of the whole experience.

My ceremony, was held in the morning at 10:30 - I thought they were usually in the afternoon or evening but that’s ok. This meant I had to be there at 8:30 to get fitted out with my gown and mortar board and run through the ceremony. Doing a science degree meant that my hood was a lovely fuchsia colour (read: Pink) and that my parchment was presented near the end.

[argh!! the right side of my spacebar is playing up - please keep working]

So, 10:30 rolled around and it began with a choir (yes, a choir) singing the national anthem. I sat there, politely clapping for another hour and then it was nearly my time.

Waiting in the wings, I heard my name and walked across stage to receive my degree from the Chancellor.

Yay, can I go now.

Not much more took place and the choir wrapped it all up with their rendition of the Latin classic, Gloria in excelsis.

Then outside for a few little happy snaps to mark the occasion. I’m not particularly fond of being photographed but how can I refuse on such a day. Damn you, proud parents.

With that in mind, it was probably no surprise that the photos weren’t that good.

It did give me a chance to use my photoshop skills though.

As you can see:

Frowning with eyes open plus smiling (barely) with eyes closed equals a photo I can give to the relatives.

Thankyou Arjan, I got a Bachelor of Science from University of South Australia. I’m not planning to study any more at the moment. I’ve had enough study to last me a while. ;)

Hi Sean, I did Arts and Social Science, and my hood was pink as well. Argh, I didn’t have good graduation photos too. They were few in numbers.

Hey Sarah, thanks for stopping by.
Yay! for pink hoods. I’m actually just glad the whole ceremony is over. For about 20 mins the woman sitting next to me was sitting on my robe and it was almost choking me. I couldn’t really say anything either because the presentation had started.
